How Nurses Can Work Longer and Why

How Nurses Can Work Longer and Why

You may be saying to yourself, why would I want to work longer? You may say that now, but you may say something different five years from now. What if you need the money, what if you are working a job you love, what if you have truly found your purpose in nursing? What if you need something to do to keep from being bored and want to be compensated well for your time? Many nurses do not think about retirement until the last ten years of their career. Sometimes health crises can sneak up on you unexpectedly.

Reasons to Be A Nurse

Reasons to Be A Nurse

I am sure there are many reasons you can think of nursing from a negative perspective, but today I want to focus on why being a nurse is so awesome.  Maybe some reasons you have been taking for granted and didn’t even know it.  Some of them will be obvious and some not so obvious.  Either way, as nurses, we have a lot to be thankful for, and I am glad to be a nurse.

Next week I will be finished with my first graduate nursing class. I put in a few months ago to be off during my final exams week. It turns out the course is ending before my week off.

I thought about working that week to save up my annual leave for baby number two around the end of this year or early next year. My wife is not pregnant yet, but we are hoping that happens fairly quickly once we start trying. Baby number one(Asher) can still demand a lot of attention at times. It is overwhelming for my wife to consider being pregnant while meeting Asher’s needs at this point.

Fail Forward In 2018

Fail Forward In 2018

It is almost the end of January now. How are the New Year’s resolutions you have set for yourself going? Remember those? Or, maybe you called them goals. Study’s show that most goals, or New Year’s resolutions, fail within the first thirty to sixty days. I wanted to write this post as a word of encouragement to you. Health improvement goals are challenging, but just know you are not alone.
